Explorer and File Editing

Editing and saving files safely

Open, edit, review, and save remote files in ServerDesk with less production risk.

Last updated: 16 June 2026

Before saving

Check the active connection, confirm the file path, and understand what depends on the file you are changing. On production systems, save only one concern at a time.

Large, empty, image, and unsupported files

ServerDesk warns before opening very large text files, shows a polished empty state for empty files, previews image files visually, and protects binary or unsupported files with download-first handling.

Unsaved changes

Dirty indicators mark editable tabs with unsaved changes. Image previews and other non-editable previews are not treated as dirty files because they are not edited in Monaco.
