Account and Security

Security basics for live server work

Follow practical security habits when using ServerDesk against production or client infrastructure.

Last updated: 16 June 2026

Access and environment safety

Use the smallest account permissions that still let you do the job. Validate the host, root path, and current environment before you edit files or run terminal commands.

Secret handling

Never paste API keys, database passwords, or SSH keys into shared notes, bug reports, or AI prompts. Treat `.env` files and secrets as high-sensitivity material even during support work.

Change discipline

Keep edits small, log what changed, and know how to roll back before you make a higher-risk production change.
